Sir:

We the undersigned Trustees of Schools for colored children at Van Buren Ark. would respectfully represent, that we have succeeded in purchasing and paying for two good and eligible lots in this city, for the purpose of erecting thereon a public school building.  That in said purchase we have entirely exhausted our means and are pecuniarily unable to do more within ourselves.  That we have no building whatever in which a school could be held, and that it will require at least the sum of Three Thousand (3000) dollars
