Fayettville Arkansas Nov 25 1868

Dear Sir
Mr Henderson of this place informed me that you are the agent for the Freedmans bureau of this State and that you would give me all the information I desired in reference to its managemt. I have only been in this State four months and have had little or no opportunity of having much in reference to the managemt of the bureau. A friend of Mine Miss Burnett of Vernon Iowa desires to engage in teaching in your deptmt. She is a young lady of great ability and a thorough knowledge of teaching having taught several very important schools in Iowa & Ohio and [[?]] this would confer honor on the associates of teachers in any State - She has a desire to engage in teaching the freedmen Can you secure her a situation She can bring any amount of references. No doubt She would teach the School at Van Buren Fort Smith or at this place providing we have a suitable home. If she comes south she would like to have a situation for a year and would also like to know about the price you would be willing to pay. Please let me hear from you at an early day. The lady I refer to belongs to the M E. Church and is a thorough Sunday School teacher
