Sir
We the undersigned trustees of the Freedmans school built at this place by the government. Most respectfully request that the Rev. Mr. G. T. Rutherford be allowed the use of said building for school purposes, until such time as arrangements can be made for a regular teacher.  We are greatly in need of a school here, and anxious and willing that Mr. R. take charge, but thar is no other building [[?]] remains, except at exhorbitant rent suitable for the purpose
