Suitable place. And when I succeeded Mason I never read any instructions whatever in regard to the Freedmans school. Besides at the time the county of Fulton was in possession of the K.K. and threats had been openly made that when the house was finished it would be burned. Therefore nothing was done as promised by the Bur. agents in the case. I asked for instructions relative to said building, failed to receive then. Nearly all the freedmen removed from Fulton Co. during the excitement & at present I do not think a good school could be obtained, the freedmen need help here. There could be a school of 65 or 70 here, but they have no house. There is one in contemplation and the site secured but nothing more. I have removed to this place, If I can render you any assistance in any manner, please let me know it.

I am Sir Very respectfully
Your Obt Servant.
Jos. P Martin
Late Agt. Bur. R.F. & A.L. Union Fulton Co. Arks
