Fort Smith, Ark.
April 26th 1869

Mr. Colby.

Dear Sir;

School is prospering as to attendance. This week it has been very full. I had a vacation last week, a week before rather, and felt better for it.

You will see by this that we now have sewing in school. It is taught by Mrs.
Seymour and her daughter. Mrs S. is the wife of the banker, and perhaps the most influential lady in town. They come to school Friday afternoons.

Truly yours,
J.O. Lyman.
