The State Superintendent for the Counties of Mississippi, Crittenden Phillips, Desha, and Monroe, is taking great interest in his duties. He is now on a tour through his district. When he returns he will give me a report of the necessities of these different counties.

I have not yet received much correspondence from some parts of my district in reference to school matters. But during the next month will endeavor to understand fully, the necessities of each locality.

The school House at the Asylum will soon be completed. The school is in session in the old house, and is in a very prosperous condition.

Much of my time has been occupied in collecting and paying bounties. During the month I have paid out to claimants Four Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty-
