I have the honor to report as follows for the Month of May 1869.
The interest in schools has somewhat abated during the Month on account of the necesity for all the children to assist in planting the crops. The directors of the different districts in this and several other counties think schools can be started in most local cities about the 1st of July. At that time the children can be more readily relieved from work in the fields Nothwithstanding the busy season, quite a number of schools have been started. To one of which I have promised the aid of this Bureau in completing their house. This school was started
