perform their duties properly. The School House at the Asylum is nearly completed. It has been much delayed by lack of lumber at the mills on account of low water.
The school house for colored children at Phillips Bayou in this county, was burned down a few days since. A teacher of the colored school in that County, was waited on by several men about a week since, and ordered to leave. They threatening him if he refuses to do so. The only objection made to this man, was that he was from the north.
There have been a great many applications for bounty during the month. I have written in over a Hundred cases. I have not received as much bounty money during the month as usual.
