My dear Sir:

We have received a paper from Freedmen's Bureau saying if A.M.A. would agree to support teachers among the 3000 freedmen among the Chickasaws in Indian Territory and was cooperative in educational work there so that it should become a success, the Bureau would erect two or more houses as should be needed for the two separate localities where said freedmen are congregated. Now could we get you to look with our eyes or rather for us into that Country - tell us about the actual condition of those people - how many there are

[[marginalia]] I cannot go at this time but may be able to do so & at the same time see you & Arkansas in the Fall. By an early reply you will greatly oblige
Yours truly
