Columbus Wis. Nov 19th 1869 Mr Wm M. Colby Dear Sir- Yours of the 27th ult. is just rec'd. It seems that Mr. Black is trying to get up fresh excuses. I [[underline]]did give him a register as provided by law.[[/underline]] Mr. Miller examined it before I gave it to Mr. Black. I suppose that Mr. M. well remembers, for it was at his office that Mr. B. rec'd. the register from me. Yours very truly &c Thomas E. Hughy P.S. I am sorry that I did not receive yours sooner.
