Office Circuit Superintendent of Public Instruction,
Eighth Judicial District of Arkansas.
Arkadelphia, Ark., December 13th 1869.

Mr. W. M. Colby
Dear Sir
I forward report for both schools for the first two weeks of October. Hope it will be all right.
We reached home Thursday morning at one o'clock. Mr. Casey found lots of work to do in the office so I have been trying to make myself useful. We are to leave here Tuesday morning for a trip over the five counties west and south. They (the Radicals) are pushing the school matters along here and intend to have the Normal stated second week in Jan. We'll not return before New Years so I'll not have long to get settled in housekeeping before school commences.
Love to Mrs. Colby and the baby.
Yours truly.
Deeter F. Casey.
