Helena Ark Jan 18th 1870 Hon. W. T. Colby Little Rock, Ark Sir My Gray informed me that he had written you about the school at this point. I have written to Genl Howard at Chicago Ill about the matter and I am expected a letter every day. If the necessary arrangements can be made I feel confident of a large school. I hope that you will give the matter your earliest consideration so that the machinery may commenced to above: for the colored people are sadly in need of a proper place to send their children to school.
