Batesville Ark. Jan 30th 1870 W.M. colby Esq. Yours of Jan 23rd was duly received and afforded me great satisfaction to think their are those who sympathize with those who are working in this unpopular calling. I have been teaching night school throug Jan. and had been congratulating myself that those people were not quite as bad as had been presented. on last week just before closing some persons threw several stones at the window near where I was standing fortunately they did no harm but frightened me considerable for the time being. I have kept on as of nothing happened. hope they may have better sense
