Please receive my thanks for your favor of the 15th containing P.O. orders for $100; also for those papers.

I have not visited the school at Van Buren, although I have often thought of doing so.  The fact is, I never see the time when I feel as though I could leave my own school; but I shall try to do so, for it does one good to visit other schools. I hear good reports from the Van Buren school.

One thing that retards the progress of our colored schools is the fact that many are frequently kept from school by work. Many of our pupils work in white families while attending school, and are, consequently,
