I can see my way clear as to the obtaining of a sufficiency of means to construct the building thereon. We have in the district two hundred & twenty two colored children between the ages of five & twenty one years. Upwards of a hundred of these are now in daily atttendance at the two schools in operation. More house room is obviously needed. The electors of the District provide means for carrying on these schools as well as the white schools for a term of five months & have levied an extra tax on themselves to meet the additional expense. I find that the means thus obtained together with the pro rata distribution of the general fund will not be adequate pay the teachers & fund the necessary furniture in the houses - hence I have to look around and see what can be done towards obtaining funds from other sources to build with untill I can get an additional tax levied to meet the required wants of The District. The utility of the system however cant be materially advanced in this District by making those calls upon
