Office of P.M. LYONS,

Military Attorney, War Claim Agent and Notary Public,

No. 14 FIFTH STREET,

Leavenworth, Kansas, April 28th, 1870

W. A. Colby Esq.
Supt Ed. Bu. R.F. & A.L.,
Little Rock Ark,

Dear sir, A poor cold lady desires me to ascertain the Co. & Reg't. to which her deceased husband Lewis Wilson or Wallace belonged to. She says that she thinks from what she has heard that he must belong to the First or Second Ark, Col'd, a few years before the was he was sold and taken off from her, and has not [[strikethrough]] heard [[/strikethrough]] seen him since, but heard he joined the army & was killed. I wrote to Col. F.A. Seely D.O. Freedmen's Bureau of St. Louis Mo and he requested me to write to you and that you would be likely to find out Co. & Reg't. She desires to make application for the Bounty &c due her deceased husband as she is in very destitute circumstances and has nothing but what she can make by washing and her health is feeble. She is not at present able to pay a fee in advance, but would be willing to pay when she collected her claim. It would be an act of charity to assist this woman to get her claim.
Truly yours
P.M. Lyons
