Fincastle, Va., May 6th, 1870

Mr. Wm. M. Colby,
Before deciding positively that we will come to Arkansas, I would ask a question or two - must my companion and myself necessarily be apart, or far apart; And, should the summer term of country life and fare prove to be sufficient (as it may notwithstanding my powers of endurance,) would it be any great loss to us, or matter to any body else if our inclinations led us to retrace our steps to old Virginia?

Will it be necessary for me to write to one of the Circuit Superintendents? My next must give the decision, I presume.

Very respectfully,
F. A. Couch.
