Dear Sir.
I wrote you on 22nd April last & forwarded you Deeds to our new land. to build a freedman's school house on but as yet I have not recd' an answer-

Please inform me if you received said deeds. I hope the projects of erecting a first class colored school at this place will not be permitted to go by the board in default of funds & I sincerely hope your efforts in its behalf will not cease.- Our own assistance pecuniarily will be necessarily meager but I think the freedmen will do what they can. The site is a beautiful one & the locality the healthiest in the state. I have been absent to N. Orleans since the date of my last untill the 22nd inst. I hope to hear from you soon, & if convenient I would be pleased for you to pay us
