Dear Sir.

Yr favor 23rd Ult. bringing the welcome intelligence you mean to build a Freedman's school house here was rec'd last week.

I send to you just a few day's prior to its  reception - & would have answered sooner but for the absence of Mr. A. M. Hawkins. He seems to be indefinite as to his [[?]] to construct such a house as the one at Arkadelphia
