Mr Wm. M Colby,
Dear Sir

I received yours of 27th May with P.O. order enclosed, Some Time Since, Accept thanks for prompt attention and interest manifested. I Should have answered yours, inquiries after School, teacher, &c, before now, but have been waiting to hear from Col Wygant, I Saw him Some time Since and engaged teachers from him, they were to have been here June 1st but are not here yet, though I am still expecting them every day. If they do not come Soon I will write to you for a teacher I have no great choice between a male or female teacher, My object is to get a competant[[competent]] teacher and, all I want, to know about them, is, that they are competant [[competent]] and respectable or in other words that He or She is a gentleman or lady. I Think I can pay about fifty dollars per month and board, board will cost fifteen or $18, eighteen dollars per month. I have every thing ready to commence, the School except the Teacher and if you will Send me a teacher here (before those come that have promised, get here) properly otherwise I will give them employment. The fact is the school must commence, and be in operation before the time comes for me to make my report in Sept next
