John B. Tucker. of said County, being duly sworn says that he was in the employment of Taylor & Hughes Tobacco Manufacturers in Oxford. &c. as Superintendent of the manufacturing department from Sept 1/65 to Oct 1/66. That he is well acquainted with John Hunt or John Bullock Freedman. That he knows that John was employed by the firm of Taylor & Hughes as Teamster from some time in June 1866 up to the 1" of October 1866 how long after the latter date John continued in the service of Taylor & Hughes, Deponent is unable to state. John was a faithful and careful man, and his services were fairly worth the sum of Fifteen to Twenty Dollars pr month and his rations. Deponent thinks he has heard J W Hughes of Taylor & Hughes tell John to get oats & fodder for the Team, but cannot swear positively as to that fact.
