For Defence

H J [[strikethrough]] G [[/strikethrough]] Whitfield of Franklin Co being duly sworn says that he knows John Hosie (F) who previously belonged to him. That some time in Jan'y or Feby 66 he saw John Stone on the road apparently lost. Asked him where he was going. John told him he was going down the country to run a still for Mr Jacob Scott. I asked him for how much. He said $450. The name of Hardy Scott was not mentioned by John.
