Franklin Co [[?]]

Chas W Conway of said County being duly sown says that some time in Dec 1866, John Stone (F) came to the still of Hardy Scott in Franklinton, where I was a clerk, and asked for a settlement. Hardy Scott told him he was not the person to come to for a settlement. John Stone told him as he had worked for Mr. Jacob Scott through the year, he didn't know how to look to Hardy for the money. John then asked for some goods. Hardy said he didn't do a credit business, & he couldn't let him have the goods. John said if you will let me have the goods and if it isn't all right with old man Jake, I will pay for them. Hardy then let him have the goods & charged them to jacob Scott pr John Stone
