Oxford Thursday Night 23d April 1868 Dear Sir I received your message by Mr Hicks in the case of Smith vs Minors this afternoon [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] too late to send out to day in the country for the affidavit of Mr Wm Jenkins. He lives down there or four miles from this place on the Hillsboro Road. Mr Smith lives a couple of miles farther. He left me on Monday, after I had enclosed your Dr Harris Certificate, & went home on my assurance that you would in all probability postpone the trial until Mr Jenkins was able to travel. I hope that no blame or loss will fall on him for not attending tomorrow as you direct, through Mr Hicks with Mr J's affidavit in the case. I will send him your order in the morning, and
