Dear Tubby:

This is a very late date to answer your welcome letter of March first, but as there is no San Crispin in this region he was not in a position to persuade me to get on with my work as he did in your case.

We expect to see the Francis Whites next week and will then hope to have some news of Mexico. We did see Charlie and Trix Phillips a few weeks ago in New York and learned of some of the things going on. It does not sound like the place I knew twenty-five years ago. Unless you can get rid of some of the tourists, I don't think we will visit Mexico for sometime to come. But I realize that as tourist business is your meal ticket it might be difficult for you to take any action against that group.

Should you come to Washington prior to the first of June, when we start off on a European jaunt, I hope you will look us up. I have some delectable anecdotes which you might enjoy hearing, and it would certainly be a pleasure to us to see you again.

With best wishes,
Sincerely yours,
Arthur

P.S. Don't forget that I was running the public schools in Cuba when some of these ambassadors were in [[short pants?]].

Transcription Notes:
I really do think the P.S. here is a cheeky comment, despite being an official document, but I wanted to see what other people thought.
