2.

Over the past years the people of Southern California, City and Airport officials, have considered in general that CMA was about the same as PAA. This condition has changed considerably with the international operations of SAS and now WAL. In fact when I represent CMA at civic affairs, luncheons and make talks in your behalf, I have noticed more and more that CMA is now considered a powerful international airline on its own and will be for sometime with three flights per day into LA. In the planning of the new international terminal facilities to be constructed over the next two years I have to be very careful in my discussions with the City officials and not confuse the requirements of PAA with those of CMA. Other foreign carriers have their eye on the great amount of business generated from this area and LUFFHANSA, KLM, JAPAN AIRLINES, AND QUANTAS have already established high-paid representatives in LA. If anything happens to me, or I am not permitted to represent you in LA, CMA will unquestionably have to establish representation in this area to act as liaison with the City politicians and play an active part in the tough competition.

The new servicing agreement with PAD is working out very well and the CMA crew members are much happier with the aircraft servicing. This new arrangement has placed a heavier load on my office, as I am now required to review and check all bills as well as pay them. With the large amount of gasoline now being picked up by CMA in this area and the new taxes involved, it has been necessary to work my secretary overtime occasionally. However, as you will note from my expense accounts, her overtime services do no amount of over $25 or $30 per month.

I hope you have time to read this long letter.

Kindest personal regards to both you and Raquel from us.

Yours sincerely,
