Dear Mrs. Gaehde:

It is thanks to Mrs. Feilchenfeldt that I am able to communicate with you as since you had left New York, I had lost track of you.

I am writing in connection with an important drawing - portrait by INGRES - which shows distressing white spots. I hesitated having it restored in view of past unfortunate experiences, but Mrs. Feilchenfeldt to whom I showed this drawing a few days ago, assured me that you had carried out such a restoration for one of her drawings in so very satisfactory a manner that it induces me to write in this vein.

I am wondering how we could proceed about showing you this work of art. Do you intend coming to New York in the not too distant future as before undertaking this work, I would like you to be in a position to examine it for I wish to know whether you sincerely feel that the restoration would improve it.

Looking forward to hearing from you and with best greetings,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
