in bed, the writing paper was very acceptable & useful & the table cloth was very nice the other one was fast growing & shabby & old. I think you remembered me far more than was deserving & wish my humble box was more than it was. I thank you all for the many gifts & hope you are not lonesome while Sidney is away on his trip. & hope he gets payed for his lecturing it's a good thing for him.
Lena came up the day before Christmas with the presents. She was looking well & she said she intended to go south this winter & was going to spend xmas with Jimmy, in fact was going to start that day as soon as she went back. She was pleased with that gift you sent her. & told Mrs. Barry she meant to go to Florida over the road as she did before. her cousin I guess she is waiting for him to take her. Lena all her life has been searching for a home & has never found it no place that has been congenial to her. She was born under a very queer planet which I think had something to do with her life & is to be pitied more than blamed. we are governed by such I surely believe.
Once more I thank you for so many nice presents & hope you were truly remembered
