Stoughton Dec 13th 1939

Dear Doris
To day it is sunny but cold. the thermometer this morning went to 18° above after three days of cloudy weather. yesterday we had snow flurries & last night with considerable wind this morning the ground was quite covered with snow but soon the sun shone out but has remained cold all day. be glad to see it go for it makes slippery going. Bill & Laurence came over & they brought us ice cream. I soon went off to bed & they visited out in the kitchen, so not to disturb me by their talk. My boxes have come from Perdigoes so this afternoon I have been doing up my xmas presents they will be sent off by tomorrow if I am lucky to get them packed.
