Stoughton November 8th 1939 Dear Doris We have been having two nice & sunny days not so cold either. a promise of a tropical storm the paper is predicting. I see to-night in the paper. we had one here Sunday but it was mostly out to sea, so this may be likewise, hope so. it rained Sunday all the afternoon & came very heavy at night with a gale of wind. in spite of the storm Bill came over with his glue pot & worked steadily untill ten O'clock. he glued up all my chairs five of them. that picture frame in the front room, the door to our bookcase & did them in good shape. I was abed & knew nothing about it. Colcord came in the morning & worked putting on my storm doors & a few windows he went downtown after some hooks & put them up on the porch so we can hang out our clothes without going out in the snow or ice. he is a good man but he makes me nervous. it looked so much like rain I was in a hurry
