Dear Doris

We are having frosts & the ther was down to 30° this morning. real fall weather very pleasant & sunny, leaves falling fast. my yard is a sight, but I trust most of them will blow away its dangerous to burn them. old people are going fast Alice Winships funeral was yesterday Ethel had the care of her, she lost her mind at the very last. 81 years. I see by the paper that Azel Sylvester passed away at the age of 87. his funeral is today.

We heard over the radio that our American vessel the City of Flint had been rescued & was on its way under the American flag with its German crew made prisoners at Norway, they will be taken into custody the Germans are mad there was some strategy on the Part of the German crew & guess they were only too glad to get away from Hitler their leader
