Tuesday morning one of our coldest thermometer 30°

Stoughton October 23rd 1939

Dear Doris

We are having a cold windy day, the wind is the worst, leaves are blowing down the street & off the trees in great profusion, hope it goes down to night at sunset.

Bill came last night & brought Laurence so to have company home, he also brought us an ice cream. he worried about my sitting up & wanted me to go off the bed at quarter of nine, but I sat up an hour later. Mrs. Barry spoke of our three chairs that need glueing so he said he would bring over the glue pot & fix them the next time he came.

The Episcopal church gave a dance Friday night in the town hall to raise money for their expenses. it was largely attended. the dance was got up by Mary McGarvey & Pete took the tickets, they made $75. a good crowd attended. Mrs. Barry told Bill & he came over & took her & took her in the old truck he had a wonderful time & its made him crazy to go again but guess she is not anxious he is funny & thinks the truck is good enough to ride
