Dear Doris

We are having humid weather, but our house is cool & at night it cools off. it cant last forever. we are getting along fast with this month & after you get here, it will begin to get cooler I hope. the most we fear is a fire, everything so dry for the want of rain. this is the time we need it. we had a wet spring & I said then, its a pity it did'nt come later on when the vegetables & berries came along. then it would probably be dry. I bought some nice large berries, they came from the swamp, the first good ones I have seen this season, the boy first went to Ballantines and they had just gone off down to the market. I told her & she said she was sorry she missed him, for it was just what she wanted.

The fire alarm has just rung in for a fire on Prospect & Park Streets & its windy hope they get it under way soon. Mrs Barry has gone to church she is to sing a solo in alto with Mrs Firrell, she is sister to Lester Gay's wife & also to Reubin Willis wife she came
