Stoughton August 6th 1939

Dear Doris

This has been a pleasant but warm day in the 90's at noon. we have had company, Mrs Gilchu came first + then Mrs Saulsbury + Lesters wife, they only stayed a short while + went about four or half past, then Mrs Gilchu took us for a short drive + stopped to an ice cream house where we had tea + toast + ice cream + then came back at six O' clock. well satisfied with our little outing.

I think mrs Saulsbury is failing in her old age! she is growing deaf more so than myself, so that she does'nt enjoy conversation where there are people talking in a room as we were. I am sorry we could not talk more with each other. Lesters wife is a great talker that seemed very kind to his mother. I would like to see Lester, he is a good boy + I always liked him, he was kind to his mother, she had a very hard life + was a worker. she lives to a good old age in spite of it though.

I am afraid Mary Frenel [[?]] is going to go before I do, but hope not, although I dont want her to live to suffer with her infected kidney and bladder trouble. as she must
