[[top left margin]]Dan Lehan called to see me today Jimmies brother, he used to come to private school taught by Kate Porter with Charley Smith. Abbie Joels young brother. I had a good time talking with him about the old neighborhood. he says that float meadows [are?] all grown up to trees he is 82 years old. + lost his wife 15 years ago. we enjoyed talking he lives in Braintree with his son.[[/top left margin]]
[[top margin]]We recognized the picture all right, but the big tree in the rear added to the beauty of it.

Stoughton July 2nd 1939
This is the first Sunday of the month + its [file as ant?] thank goodness, a nice cool day + so far not noisy the firing is not allowed, they will make it up tomorrow though + dont you think they wont. I shall be glad when its over, such days are terrible when one is nervous. I slept pretty well through the night in spite of the everlasting banging, there was a fire alarm it sounded some time during the night.
There is so much under brush thats laying around loose since the hurrycane, that a fire would be easily kindled so the celebration is very dangerous on that account. we shall all be glad when the fourth is over.
Every body in this neighborhood is away over Sunday it seems, if it were possible we would go but theres no where to go. my folks are dead + gone + all my old aquaintances are likewise, thats the  worst thing in growing
