Asst. Q. M. Office
Charleston S.C.
February 19/67

Respectfully returned to B. Maj E. L. Deane A.A.A.G with the report: that I find upon investigation none of the lumber remaining of which this bridge was constructed. nor can I obtain any evidence that would convict any particular parties of removing it, but it seems that is has been removed piece by piece by negroes and others
living in the vicinity, some of it having been used in repairing other bridges on the Island. I judge that nearly everyone in the vicinity has been engaged in the removal
of it having been used in repairing other bridges on the island. I judge that nearly everyone in the vicinity has been engaged in the removal as they are all unwilling
to give evidence, and nothing certain can be obtained from any of them
