Calls attention to the fact that one Mr. Haskell received transportation for a number of freed people from Columbia or Abbeville S.C. to Mississippi and desires to know if Mr Haskell's bond has been received.

Respectfully returned. its papers relating to the within mentioned matter are on file at this Hd quarters, - In the month of December, Mr Haskil, called at this office for information as to how to procure transportation, which was given him.
Nothing further is known in the matter. - other than a statement made by Mr H. to Bt Maj Harkicheimer, that the Commissioner, during his visit to this city in January last had, upon the recommendations of Gen [[?]], sent a telegraphic order to Genl Whittelsey A.Q.M. to furnish the transportation, and send the same direct to Mr Haskill.
