Statement of Stefaney Haynes. 

States that Mr. Brown, at Darlington SoCa has a colored boy, named Sam, whom Stefaney Haynes claims as his Son, and that the said Brown refuses to give him up, unless the said Stefaney Haynes brings evidence that the boy Sam is his Son.

Personally appeared before me, Stefaney Haynes who deposeth and saith that the above named  boy Sam now in the possession of Mr Brown at Darlington SC is his Son.

Personally affirmed before me, Wally Haynes who deposeth and saith that he is the Uncle of the said boy Sam, and that he has known him since his birth, some 10 or 12 yrs ago. the Boy was taken from Charleston SC to Darlington SC by Mr Hannahan Agent of Mr Gibbs, in the year of 1862. Since which time he has not seen him.
