My father has had to leave the city on account of his failing health, he is now in Canada. he left a man here to look after the interrests of his rice plantation on the South Carolina side of the Savannah river. This agent has applied twice to Captain Brandt in order to have the contract signed by the freedmen on the place carried out, the captain refuses to have anything to do with my father's place, or to see his contract with the freedmen carried
