General

Please received the enclosed letters and certificate. Capt Brandt will believe what he chooses of me regardless of my disclaimer and your denial. It may be satisfactory to Capt Brandt if my division of the crop shall be such as to sustain the justness of that of the last year. The delay which I understand to be threatened will certainly tend to that end. The loss nessarily incured to the freedmen by the change of contract as explained in my letter of 23d August last may thereby be to some extent repaid at my expense.
