Sub-DISTRICTS OF ST. PETER'S PARISH, S.C.
Rice Hope, S.C., October 16th 1867.

Mr. W. C. Daniell
Savannah Ga.

Sir!
I received your communication from yesterday and have to state that I shall attend to the fulfillment of the Contract between you and your freedman so far as my duty compels me. No guard is to my disposal and therefore you have to look out for your interest yourself.

The freedman have to stack the crops on the ground when harvested and after all is done, I shall divide the crop, giving you your share of one third.

Your action against me, at Hd.Q.S.C. Assist. Commissioner and at Hd. Qts. of General O.O. Howard Commissioner Bureau R.F. & A.L. Washington D.C. has satisfied me.

Respectfully
Yours
Henry C. Brandt
Capt & S.A. Comr
