To Capt. Henry C. Brandt Sub. Asst. Commissioner Burea R. F & A Lands

Captain
I respectfully call your attention to So much of my Contract with the freedman on my Plantation as Engages them to delivery my third of the Rice Crop due to me to any neighbouring thrashing Mill As I desire a prompt delivery and apprehend from some Indications that they are disposed to postpone iff not altogether evade the fulfilment of that Engagement.

An order from you will be useful to me in that matter. I ask a further order to these freedman to bring in and stack on the Barn Yard the Rice as soon as the harvest is finished which I learn will be in a few days So that it may be divided. I learn that no guard to protect the Rice has been sent to you and it is reported that none will be. Please advise me wether my information is correct.

I have the honor to be &c
