In accordance with Special Order No. 15 p. II. dated Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr. Bu R.F. and A.L. So. Ca. January 28. 1867. constituting us a Board, under Sec. II [[strikethrough]] 2 [[/strikethrough]] of a bill to establish a Bureau of RF. & A.L. "—" to assess the value of buildings and improvements placed upon lands covered by possessory title, by freedpeople, upon John Island, S.C." we have examined and assessed the improvements placed upon land covered by possessory title dated Aug. 26. 1865 located by Geo. Dansman (freedman) on plantation known as Sol. Legan's "Village Place," on said Johns Island, S.C. as follows:
One Dwelling Hut $25. Twenty Five Dollars, as a fair compensation to be made to the said Geo. Dansman, "by the former owner of such lands or their legal representatives."
