Johns Island So. Carolina
January 25th 1867

In accordance with S.O. No 10. p. 3. dated Head Qr's Assistant Commissioner Bureau R.F and A.L. So. Carolina January 17.th 1867 constituting us a Board under Sec. 2. of "a bill to establish a Bureau of R.F. and A L" - "to assess the value of buildings and improvements placed by freed people upon land covered by possessory titles on Johns Island So. Carolina" - we have examined and assessed the improvements upon land covered by possessory title No 252 dated March 22' 1865, located by William McLeod (freedman) on the plantation known as the "Josiah McLeod Estate" on said Johns Island S.C. as follows. 

One Dwelling house. One Cotton house. and one barn and small out house, at $145 00 One Hundred and Forty Five Dollars, as a fair compensation to be made to the said William McLeod "by the former owner of such lands or their legal representatives"
