Johns Island South Carolina
January 25th 1867

In accordance with Special Order No 10. p. 3. dated Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner Bureau R.F. and A.L. South Carolina January 17th 1867 constituting us a Board under Sec. 2. of "a Bill to establish a Bureau of R.F & A.L."_"to assess the value of buildings & improvements placed by freedpeople upon lands covered by possessory titles on Johns Island So Carolina," - we have examined and assessed the improvements upon land covered by possessory title No. 338. dated Sept. 28th. 1865 located by July Singleton (freedman) on the plantation known as the "Joe Mikell place" on said Johns Island So. Carolina, as follows - 

One house & barn as $60.00 Sixty Dollars -
as a fair compensation to be made to the said July Singleton "by the former owner of such lands or their legal representatives"
