James Island So. Carolina
January 29th 1867

In accordance with Special Order No 10. p. 3, dated Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner Bureau R.F. and AL So. Carolina January 16, 1867 constituting us a Board under Sec. 2. of "a Bill be establish a Bureau of R.F. & AL" -"to assess the value buildings & improvements placed by freedpeople upon land owned by possessory titles on James Island So. Ca" we have examined and assessed the improvements placed upon land owed by possessory title No 219 dated April 25th 1865 located by Teneant Johnson (freedman) on plantation known as the "Wm McLeod Estate" on said James Island S.C. as follows - 

One Dwelling Hut at $10.00, Ten Dollars, as a fair compensation to be made to the said Teneant Johnson "by the former owners of such lands or their legal representatives"
