Friday Bennett (colored) lives on Daniel (or Donald) Stewarts plantation on Santee river, testifies, that he knows that a company of freedmen, drilled about Christmas time, under arms, under the commands of Sam Pyall, Mott Blake, and Toney Garrett, near the "Club House field" near the Church at Santee: and that he knows there have been no drills since that time. 
Jack Blake (colored) lives on Mr James C Doars plantation, on Santee river, testifies that a contribution of 10 cents per man was levied by Toney Garrett for the purchase of ammunition: this the week before Christmas -
James C. Doar (Esquire) states that about Christmas time, he saw this quite large platoon of armed freedmen, dressing, and drilling, and heard Mott Blake giving them instructions, telling them that he was the Captain, among other things & that they presented arms to Mr. F Richards of Charleston, and Marion Ross and Edmund Gregory of Mt. Pleasant: that they were quiet and orderly - 
It appears from what I learned, regarding this affair, that Peter Delaney (colored) and one other man (whose name I could not ascertain)
