Rebecca Berryon - I live with Judge McPherson. Some time ago Judge got a horse from Mr Batchelen. he kept him two weeks. we put him in the plough and he would not work. I put him up and after a week I tried him again and he worked very well, we then tried him in the cart, we went well. I was the person who worked the horse. Mr. Batchelen, after two weeks time sent for us to go to work for him, to help pay for the horse, and we worked 3 [[strikethrough]] hors [[/strikethrough]] hours one day & the next day till 9 - in the morning - My brother worked one week, father four days, and that was all we did. Mr. Batchelen then said if we didn't work he wanted us to bring back the horse! He had rather have the horse than the money. The horse looked badly - when we got him - when we carried him back he was much mended and looked better -
