St. Andrew's Parish S.C. Aug. 3. 1867

I. Moulton Emory a resident of St. Andrew's Parish S.C. make the following statement: Osbourne Parker, a freedman, now employed on L. A. Dodge's plantation, last January contracted with me to work during the year on my plantation. He staid on the place three weeks. During the times he failed to give satisfaction. performing his work in a very unproper and slovenly manner, notwithstanding repeated requests and commands to do otherwise. One morning he was missing from the place and did not return until a week had expired. He told me on his return that he should leave the place whenever he pleased though in direct violation of his contract. Finding he was doing more harm than good I sent him away. I have seen him working on other plantations since he contracted with L. A. Dodge
