Colonel,
I have the honor to report that on Saturday last Mr. Freeman Walker a planter residing about twelve miles from this place, in Orange County, reported at this office in compliance with orders from Mr. James Carle, the former agent here. Walker informed me that he made a contract with Osborn Wilkerson (F) to work his plantation on shares during the past year, that the paid Osborn was in his debt and that he had retained the crops to secure the debt and Osborn had agreed it was right. Andrew Oakley (F) had brought a bill against him for services rendered and supplies furnished Osborns working party. Walker claimed that he had nothing to do with Oakley, never hired him and that he simply assisted Osborn (his farther in law) a little during the
